Muiderman Double TopMuiderman Double Top

Muiderman Double top

The concept of double topped guitars has been around for a while, but Kevin Muiderman has taken it to another level. This is a phenomenal guitar. If you’re looking for a traditional, martin-influenced sound, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for an unusual combination of sustain, balance, singing overtones, raw power and dynamic response, with a unique tonal character and flavour thrown into the mix, this could be the guitar for you. The guitar suffered some damage to the top, which Kevin has expertly repaired so it is barely noticeable, but this means we are able to offer this amazing fingerstyle instrument at a discount.  . £4000 (US$6,000 approx.) OM sized, 14 fret join

Spruce outer/cedar inner double top

Bown OMX

I've waited 3 years for this guitar ! Ralph Bown has a great following and with good reason- this is his newer model, an Expanded OM which retains the playability of the OM model but with more responsiveness, power and nuance. The top is a figured Stika spruce which Ralph chose to match the tone of the Brazilian rosewood back and sides. The braz is from my own personal stash, air dried for 5 years and highly figured with a green hue in UV light. This is a guitar which is clear and powerful but responsive and with a huge dynamic range, making it ideal for any setting- an intimate practise session or a gig down the coffeeshop. Greven OO

I've been saving this one ! This guitar was completed in 2007 and it's a killer. John Greven has rolled back the years with this thoroughbred interpretation of a prewar OO. We've kept as many of the features which have contributed to the prewar sound and feel. We've gone so far as to use bar frets. The only change is the use of an adjustable truss rod for easy adjustment, a cutaway for better access and a hand-rubbed, varnish finish to ensure a hard, thin finish similar to the nitro without the hazardous application process. The woods are of the highest grade possible with a clean Adirondack top and Brazilian rosewood from my personl stash out of a log found in a veneer factory dating from the 30-40s. The result is a powerful yet exquistely sensitive instrument with liquid trebles and bell like overtones. How highly to I rate it? Put it this way, it was finished in 2007.....4,400 sterling (US$8,800 approx.)

Basic Features:

  • John Greven

Greven OOO

A new Greven! John's really outdone himself with this one. A vintage 14 fret OOO offering in lutz and mahogany, the entire guitar is trimmed in tortis and a cutaway helps with access. New Era OOO 12fret

Larson Bros getting respect ! Tony Klassen is a great luthier who has been collecting and studying Larson Bros guitars for many years now. His foray into the world of lutherie has been to reproduce those excellent guitars so often overlooked by collectors. With authentic construction techniques such as laminated bracing and internal rods, Tony has managed to capture the essence of both the tone and aesthetics of the larson guitars.

This guitar has a fine vintage voice with that liquid trebles associated with Larson instruments and a very very sweet midrange and bass register. Norman Blake's L'arrivee SD50

A standard factory guitar at Goodacoustics? What's going on? Put simply, this is such a fine sounding guitar with provenence that I couldn't resist. This is L'arrivee's version of the prewar 12fret D18. It sports a sitka spruce top and honduran mahogany back and sides. These pedestrian specs belie a super charged guitar. Norman Blake bought this guitar for himself in . It was used at various outlets and Norman decided to move it on as his Martin signature model was a little smaller and more comfortable for him. It's light and it's powerful with more of a vintage sound than you would think. This is a very fine sounding guitar suited to Flatpicking and Fingerpicking. These retail at around 2,ooo sterling, street price it has been used carefully and is in excellent condition. In some respects, I prefer this guitar to the new Martin D18 Authentics, it is the equal of the Martins. It's that good. Full documentation and provenence. Ragghianti OM

The OM was designed by Martin to meet Perry Betchel's requirement. It was designed for use in an orchestra, hence the designation. We think that the OM is the most versatile guitar shape; a luthier can push it into a fingerpicking box, a flatpicking machine or an all rounder. This Ragghianti is an all rounder with a great bass response. If you thought that a mahogany dreadnought is great for strumming or flatpicking, this OM may well challenge that! It's good ooodles of headroom and project with a good blend of overtones. We found this guitar to be a good fingerpicker as well. Overall, it is a very enjoyable guitar! 2,100 sterling (US$4,000 approx.) Email us/phone for more details.

  • OM
  • Italian Spruce top

§         This one's been over a year in the works, from working out the specs to the execution. It's a real throughbred guitar- very responsive but with good headroom. 12 fret OOO have been considered the ideal platform for fingerstylists, but we chose to go with an OM scale length to give it a bit more oomph and headroom and it's worked out beautifully. The bass is rich and the trebles are startlingly thick.

The mastergrade European Red Spruce top flexs over Brazilian rosewood to produce a very classic pre-war timbre. The entire guitar is French Polished and the style 45 purfling adds class. If you are looking for a lifetime guitar, let me recommend this one.

Ralph Bown 12 string Dreadnought SOLD

A straight out and out monster. This is a simply 12 fret slope shouldered dread in Sitka/Mahogany with a great sound. I actually bought it for myself as I had started out on a 12 string. After playing for a day though, I remembered why I switched; I just lack the skill to play it properly. The sound was so good that it sold almost immediately after I decided to part with it! We didn't get get around to placing up on the website. We have a quite lot of guitars which don't make it to the screen so if you're looking for something in particular, Email us/phone!

  • Sitka Spruce top
  • Mahogany back and sides
  • Finish: High Gloss Nitrocellulose
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • Slotted headstock
  • Mahogany neck with adjustable rod
  • Sunburst Top
  • Shaller tuners
  • Bone nut and saddle

Great ribbon grain Mahogany

Sobell Model 2a

This model is larger than Stefan's famous model 1: longer and a little deeper. The 2a Model has 14 frets to the body and a re-shaped higher waist than standard model 2's. This guitar has a deep and powerful sound whilst retaining that clarity and projection that Sobells are known for. A highlander pickup is already installed so this one is ready right out the box! SOLD We often have Sobells in stock and many do not make it to the website please Email us/phone if you are looking for one!

Features

  • Model 2a
  • European Spruce top
  • Figured Indian Rosewood back and sides
  • Ebony bridge
  • Brazilian Rosewood Bindings
  • Highlander pickup installed
  • Brass bridgepins
  • Early Hiscox case which is sturdier than the standard Liteflight cases sold today.
  • Excellent Condition: only wear evident is an unrepaired strap pin hole on the heel and a few small dings.
  • Terence says: 'This guitar has been played in thus is more responsive and the tone envelops the player more than usual for a Sobell. The brass pins and highlander pickups are small bonuses for what is an impressive guitar."
  • Dennis says: "A lovely, bright, full sound. A great choice for a singer/songwriter looking for clarity and strength. If you like a clean fingerstyle sound in a guitar that you can play as hard as you like, this is the one for you."
